Cyclic deformation and fatigue behavior of 7075-T651 Al alloy with a gradient structure

Fully reversed stress-controlled tension–compression fatigue experiments (R = −1) were conducted to study the cyclic deformation and behavior of 7075-T651 aluminum alloys with without a surface mechanical rolling treatment (SMRT). The strain amplitude, ratcheting effect, asymmetric base metal (BM) SMRT specimens analyzed. showed more remarkable effects asymmetry under high stresses. Fatigue tests that strengths 7075 Al increased significantly by SMRT. Both BM presented failure-mode transition from intrusions extrusions failure modes Al18Ti2Mg3 constituent phase. hysteresis loop was utilized obtain plastic-strain amplitude. Furthermore, according cyclic-deformation combined Manson–Coffin law, strain–life evaluation stress-control is given.
